Passengers aboard The Atlantis Monterey whale-watching ship were treated to a super-rare triple breach. Two adults and a calf all leapt out of the water in the incredible display. (Video included in the link)

Heidi Scheid Nominated for Person of the Year Award by Wine Enthusiast Magazine

Heidi Scheid is the daughter of founder Al Scheid. She has been nominated for her “outstanding achievements over the past year in the wine and alcoholic beverage world.” She has been pivotal in transforming Scheid Family Wines from a grower for other brands to a full wine business on the global scale. Recently, Scheid has launched a new product called “Sunny with a Chance of Flowers”, which is in the “healthy” alcohol category.

Lettuce Prices Rising Due to Weather and Disease

Prices are up on key crops grown in Salinas. Soilborne diseases and a week of warming trends are set to impact the prices of green leaf lettuce and romaine, broccoli, and strawberries. In a related move, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has released guidelines for any imported romaine. The agency said this is due to the increased frequency of E. coli present in romaine imported from Salinas. The full details of its guidelines can be found here.
