This Week on the Central Coast
Sand City invites local artists to create murals, an Amazon Original movie will film in Carmel, and Food Truck Fridays begin at the Monterey County Fairgrounds.
This past week, Santa Cruz County prepared to reopen schools with Scott’s Valley USD opening first on March 3rd. Meanwhile, Monterey County is approaching red tier. Progressing to the next tier would allow restaurants to open for indoor dining at 25% capacity, the aquarium could reopen with limited capacity, and schools would be able reopen after special conditions are met. Last, a new Costco gas station has opened in Sand City. Prices were at $3.09 per gallon last Friday.
The Sand City Art Committee has put out a call for local artists.
As a part of the West End Celebration 2021, the city is calling for local artists to paint murals. The project will bring two artists together for one piece to showcase the blending of their styles. City Manager Aaron Blair hopes the annual celebration will continue to show the creative talents living in Sand City. The event will feature live music, food, and art exhibits.
"All the Old Knives" will be filming in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
The Amazon original movie will star Chris Pine and Thandie Newton. The movie, based on the novel of the same name, is about two “CIA operatives and ex-lovers who meet for dinner to reminisce about their sojourn in Vienna six years prior.” Filming locations include Safeway in Carmel, the Crossroads, and the Carmel Academy of Performing Arts. The film crew will be in town from March 9-11 and has called for extras.
The Monterey County Fair began hosting Food Truck Fridays
