Picketing for the American Tin Cannery

This Saturday, October 17, 2020, a protest is being organized against the proposed demolition of the American Tin Cannery in Pacific Grove. The proposed project would replace the American Tin Cannery building with a 225-room hotel. This would also include the removal of at least 70 trees and vegetation, demolition of existing buildings and businesses, and the creation of an underground parking structure. PG&E warns of power shutoffs.

The power company is warning of potential shutoffs Wednesday (10/14/20) and Thursday (10/15/20). The warning comes from the probability of a large wind event working its way through Northern California. The areas most likely to be affected include Santa Cruz and parts of Big Sur.
